Blurred is a good description of the music created by Michael Dodman, aka
Huxley, as the upper register here comes from dreamy side of house music while the bottom is all about that boomy bass, reflecting the U.K. producer's early love of the grime genre. Check "Give 2 U" with
Femme for an example of a siren song on top with a deep wallop below, while "Barne Dance" is like
Roni Size remixed by
Roger Sanchez, the latter artist actually landing here on the highlight "Callin'" but under his S-Man moniker. Blurred is unique, although akin to the old
808 State and LFO efforts where blue rooms met bass music and all the hoodies understood, but it's that same meeting happening in 2014, after house and bass followed their own indie and dubstep routes. Glad they got back together and glad that
Huxley made it happen. ~ David Jeffries
