These twenty tracks--eight by Chenier and a dozen by Dupsee--were all recorded by Jay Miller for his record labels. Chenier's tracks date from the late fifties. He'd already begun recording early in that decade, most notably for the Los Angeles-based Specialty label. While these songs are not as sonically rich as those Specialty sides, they do manage to capture him and his band as they perform with infectious abandon. He revisited some of this material later, and it's remarkable to hear one of his staples like "If I Ever Get Lucky" dancing about on its youngest legs.
