Refrigerator’s first outing in four years,
Dangerous, is a sketchpad of demos, initially planned to be re-recorded as a full-length, until bassist Daniel Brodo took a spill and broke both of his wrists. Allen Callaci and his acoustic guitar make up the majority of the sparse home recordings, which are performed live in a easygoing folk style, much like an unplugged set by
Evan Dando or
Jeff Tweedy. Obviously, the album sounds unfinished, but even so, there are some good songs here, and it’s an interesting look at the writing process of an underrated lo-fi group; a spyglass that captures
Refrigerator at their rawest. ~ Jason Lymangrover
