The 11th volume of
Def Jam's digital download compilations released in celebration of the label's 25th anniversary,
Cheers to You sticks strictly to plush contemporary R&B. Unfortunately, it doesn't select anything from the '80s or early '90s. The tracks are mostly from the mid- to late '90s and early 2000s, and were, for the most part, commercially successful. Among the cuts here are
MoKenStef's "He's Mine,"
the Isley Brothers'
Angela Winbush-assisted "Floatin' on Your Love" (which was released on Island, not
Def Jam),
Montell Jordan's "Daddy's Home,"
Christión's "Full of Smoke,"
Kelly Price's "Friend of Mine," and
Playa's "Cheers 2 U." ~ Andy Kellman
