Conley speaks of "programming" himself to write, and in setting the tone for this album -- as well as the followup,
Treadin' Water -- he programmed "radio records" into his consciousness. The result: a driving, rock-inflected package that yielded four number one singles -- the first time an album did that in any format. The title track and "Your Love's on the Line" are particularly listenable, but there's not a bad cut on it. ~ Tom Roland
