Not that everything on this 17-track collection is technically doo wop (the Drifters' "Save the Last Dance for Me," for instance, is really closer to being pop R&B), but it does make for a pretty nifty little set that circles love and romance with the best possible intentions. Among the obvious classics compiled here are the Marcels' immortal "Blue Moon," the Dell-Vikings' equally as immortal "Come Go with Me," and the original version of "Barbara Ann" by the Regents (which again, is really more R&B than doo wop), which was later spiffed up and smoothed out just a hair by the Beach Boys for that group's hit rendition. Every song here is like that, a classic in one way or another, so while these selections might not be rare or obscure, it's nice to have them in one concise and enduring sequence.
