Dying Ground -- composed of Kate Hideki,
Eyvind Kang, and G. Calvin Weston -- lays out a sound that's less free-jazz and more like the hard-rocking heaviness of the Boredoms or the Ruins.
Dying Ground, recorded in an essentially live setting at New York's Knitting Factory, is a stiff plod of solid rhythms topped by Kang's scratching, tortured violin improvisation.
