Willy Porter's third album
Falling Forward continues in the same pleasant, adult alternative pop/rock vein as his previous two records. Even if the record is uneven, he is continuing to deepen and mature as a songwriter, which means that the high points are higher than before, but they're still surrounded by filler. Since that filler is well-crafted and pleasant,
Falling Forward is an enjoyable listen through and through, but the best moments shine brightly enough to serve as a reminder that
Porter's best work is yet to come. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
