Eduardo Del Barrio is a fine keyboardist, best-known for his background work on studio and commercial dates. This particular CD is quite a bit different, for the emphasis is on his piano, performing solos (including two free if melodic improvisations) and in small groups.
Del Barrio really stretches out, being assisted on some cuts by bassists
Charlie Haden or Abe Laboriel, drummer
Peter Erskine, flutist
Hubert Laws, and a few Latin studio players;
Dianne Reeves has a guest vocal on "Lament for a Lonely Child." This is the one
Eduardo Del Barrio CD to get, although -- being on A&M from the early '90s -- the disc will be a bit difficult to locate. ~ Scott Yanow
