With a title nicked from a Charles Darwin quote, Boston metal heroes Revocation continue to push the envelope on their sixth long-player, Great Is Our Sin. Released in the summer of 2016, the 11-track album is their second for Metal Blade and pairs them once again with helmsman Zuess (Hatebreed, Bleeding Through), who produced 2014's mighty Deathless. It's also their first release with newcomer Ash Pearson, who replaced founding drummer Phil Dubois-Coyne just one year prior. Along with their increasing technical acumen, Revocation still manage to pack plenty of melody, passion, abrasion, and intelligence into these muscular compositions that, at times, skirt the edges of prog and death metal.
