As well known for his contentious battle raps (he has written notorious slams on
LL Cool J and
Eminem) as he is for his raw, angry delivery,
Canibus stayed true to form on his 2005 release
Hip-Hop for Sale. Actually, there are fewer overt attempts to take down other artists here, but
Canibus' visceral attack on the mike is as heavy as ever, and the tracks -- produced by Nottz -- match the rapper's style with their muscular, midtempo stomp. This is a solid, hard-hitting effort that should please fans of East Coast hardcore rap.
