On its second full-length album, Swedish quartet
Andromeda has produced a prog metal record that, while incorporating a few fresh-sounding ideas, ultimately collapses under the weight of its indulgences. Some attention-grabbing moments in the beginning of the album get things off to a promising start, but are quickly forgotten as the record sinks into a quagmire of instrumental excess. Fans of the genre should find some moments to appreciate here, but only those with great patience.
