In one of the stranger developments in Mexican regional music, Serca Records issues a split greatest-hits collection with a pair of legendary norteño outfits from the same region:
Los Invasores de Nuevo León and
Los Herederos de Nuevo León.
Mano a Mano contains a whopping 20 tracks, ten by each artist, rotating every track. It's an experiment but a fine one, since both acts have so much material to choose from that fans of one can be introduced to the other. While
Los Invasores rely almost as much on Tex-Mex music as they do on norteño,
Los Herederos mix up their style with spirited corridos and moving rancheras. Given that both acts have loyal followings -- and one is not necessarily exclusive to the other -- this makes for a great, diverse set of classic norteño by two charting artists.
