This short-lived North Carolina-based progressive metal group released its first and last recording on the Magna Carta label. The music is typical of similar acts like
Shadow Gallery and
Lemur Voice, but lacks these colleagues' creativity and originality. The prerequisite technique and complexity are here, but the second-rate production quality and stereotypical compositions make for a very average listening experience. Die-hard fans of this style will surely find some endearing qualities, but on the whole,
Mercy offers nothing that hasn't already been heard before. Of note, the band broke up shortly after this release. ~ Robert Taylor
