All six of the tracks from
the Preachers' three rare singles, as well as the two they recorded on a 45 credited to John English & the Lemondrops, are on this short compilation, which has a running time of just under 20 minutes. Their cover of "Who Do You Love" (included on Pebbles, Vol. 1) remains their best track, with most of the others being pretty standard-issue bluesy mid-'60s garage punk. They do get into slightly more melodic and folk-rock-influenced grooves on "Quit Talkin' About Him" and "Pain & Sorrow." Their style didn't change much on the songs billed to John English & the Lemondrops, "Just Don't You Complain" recalling "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone," and "Moanin'" being an unlikely garage band treatment of a jazz standard. ~ Richie Unterberger
