As a duo,
Moe Bandy & Joe Stampley hit the country charts nine times between 1979 and 1985, usually with comic or novelty material, and they provoked enough laughs to be named the CMA Duo of the Year in 1980. But you will find only their four most successful collaborations here-"Just Good Ol' Boys," "Where's the Dress," "Holding the Bag," and "Hey Joe (Hey Moe)." The other six tracks on this budget-priced album are evenly divided, with three of each singer's solo Top Ten hits. While that's in keeping with the "super hits" logo (none of the other
Joe & Moe singles made the Top Ten), it may not be what consumers expect when they see the two co-billed. Better to have given
Bandy and
Stampley their own separate
Super Hits albums for their solo works and collected all the duo records here instead. ~ William Ruhlmann
