While I can't confirm this fact, I was once told that
Kruder & Dorfmeister's The K&D Sessions outsold the rest of its label's entire catalog combined. And while there's no doubting that The K&D Sessions was a monumental release that has come to define a particular sound during a particular era, the consensus at the time was that the CD's astounding sales figures likely had to do with the large play it got in nearly every hip bistro, boutique and elevator around the globe. It is no doubt with this in mind that
T.H. White has marketed this release squarely at the owners and managers of public places which are constantly seeking a new, cool yet unobtrusive soundtrack for their clientele to consume by. And it's hard to argue with
White's smooth combination of urban beats and pop/rock vocals and guitars, complete with pleasant female guests and even a flute on "Hometown" and "More Than Before (Part II)." It would just feel a lot better if I didn't know he composed this record while thinking about what bassline would go good with what tapas or over-priced haircut. Sometimes music is like sausage, you really don't want to know what goes into making it. ~ Joshua Glazer
