Ben Hated celebrates materialism and hedonism on
Mr. Ghetto Fame, an album filled with fantasies of fancy cars, sexy women, and reppin' the glamorous side of the Southern ghetto lifestyle.
Hated is from Alabama and uses his unique locale to his advantage. His style is part St. Louis boastin' (i.e.,
Nelly), part New Orleans flossin' (i.e.,
Hot Boys), and part Atlanta pimpin' (i.e.,
Ludacris). The standout track here is "Escalades & Navigators," a song with lots of production flourishes and some soothing singing on the hook.
Mr. Ghetto Fame is an elaborate album that's on par with major-label rap, even though this is an independently released album. ~ Jason Birchmeier
