Just one of the
JT the Bigga Figga albums that flooded the market in 2000 -- thanks to several re-releases --
Operation Takeover features a mild gangsta tone to a further degree than any previous albums by the California rapper. On this album,
JT doesn't get lonely, being accompanied by a broad roster of fellow underground West Coast rappers. The many voices actually strengthens the album, making it more of a collaborative effort as if it were a GLP album. Unfortunately, it doesn't do much for
JT's canon of work, which now seems even more confusing to navigate. So while this is a mild gangsta album with strong charisma and little cliché, one cannot attribute much of it to
JT. Still, a good album is a good album; just don't expect this to be much like his previous albums. ~ Jason Birchmeier
