Andrés' sixth release is yet another winner, a three-track 12" for
Mike Grant's Detroit-based Moods & Grooves label that boasts some of the producer/percussionist's finest downtempo-stroked house yet. The A-side, "You're Still the One," features a soft bump of a rhythm with a light funk guitar figure and a drizzle of female vocals that impart romantic bliss and devotion. After a few minutes, the track gracefully changes pitch and spins off into a sparse, loping rhythm and fades away. The two songs on the other side, "Is It Cool" and "Take Off," are more relaxed than the A-side and are nearly as strong. As with the majority of
Andrés' output, you'll be anxious to play this one over and over again. ~ Andy Kellman
