I rate these skimpy made-for-boom-boxes cassettes compiled by Motown in the late '80s rather highly. All featured solid overlooked and neglected album tunes anchored by a couple of mega-hits. Ex-
Temp Glenn Leonard's shimmering falsetto shines twice: inspiring on "Go For It" and mesmerizing on the soulful, questioning "Is There Anybody Else."
Dennis Edwards rocks the house on two stone killers from the
Reunion album: the factual "Money's Hard to Get" and the sinuous "Lock It In the Pocket." The fast-playing cassette is anchored by edited versions of "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" and "Masterpiece." You get to hear the contrasting falsettos of
Damon Harris (on the latter two tunes) and Leonard in one short, sweet package.
