Chicago blues guitarist
J.B. Ritchie revisits his roots on
Power Blues, paying tribute to the masters of the genre, including
Muddy Waters,
Elmore James,
Willie Dixon, and
Howlin Wolf. His gritty slide work is complimented by drummer Marty Binder and bassist Frank Bandy (aka Right Hand Frank).
Ritchie retains that inspired Chicago blues sound on his original compositions "Nervous Breakdown" and "You Don't Gotta." While he left out an amplified harmonica, the staple of this kind of electric blues, he effectively fills that precious space with his slide specialty. Electric Chicago blues fans will want to check this out. ~ Al Campbell
