Silva America's 1999 reissue of
Jerry Goldsmith's score for Sylvester Stallone's blockbuster Rambo: First Blood, Pt. 2 contains no less than six new tracks and 15 minutes of music previously unavailable on LP. All of it adds up to a richer experience, even if the score remains a little lightweight. After all, Goldsmith was providing music for a suspense potboiler, and all he had to do was match the music to the mood; even if he did so superbly (which he did), the music would likely feel a little lightweight (which it does), even with rousing, adventurous sections. Still, it's an enjoyable work that proves what a facile, agile composer Goldsmith can be. And, for all the
