Utterly anonymous emocore from a British quartet that might as well be from any suburban mall in America,
Songs for the Betrayed is so by-the-numbers that it's possible that this five-song EP is actually a merciless, deadpan dissection of the increasingly idiotic clichés of post-hardcore indie rock. Two singers, one barking incoherently in a guttural gargle while the other handles the occasional intelligible line? Check. A drummer playing uninflected double-time beats no matter what his bandmates are doing? Indeed. Two guitarists consistently playing exactly the same simplistic riffs at the same time? Uh-huh. The band forgot they needed a bass player? Er, apparently so. Song titles like "Blinded by Belief" and "Honest Fux"? Sadly, yes. If
Sharp End First really were kidding, this would be hilarious; unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case.
