Disc one of this live recording is a live version of their masterpiece "A Pleasant Shade of Gray." Disc two contains their earlier masterpiece, "The Ivory Gate of Dreams," from
No Exit. The band gives the tune a nice update, and
Ray Alder proves that he can still sing at bat-like decibel levels. The rest of the recording contains some of the band's concert favorites. The one link to their metal years is the inclusion of "Prelude to Ruin" (
Awaken the Guardian), proving that they can still peel the paint off the walls. This is a very good live recording and serves as a nice complement to their live video
A Pleasant Shade of Gray, released one year earlier. ~ Robert Taylor
