Street Life, like the other various-artist compilations rolled out for the sake of celebrating the Rap-A-Lot label’s 25th anniversary, is a mixed bag of popular hits and neglected album cuts, some of which appear on the other discs. The most notable inclusion here is Scarface’s halting “A Minute to Pray,” followed by Facemob’s “Tales from the Hood,” Devin the Dude's “Hand of the Dead Body,” and 5th Ward Boyz's “Your Life.” Most of the tracks are anything but celebratory, illustrating the label roster’s knack for following the grim storytelling pioneered by the Geto Boys. Although the title of the disc is accurate, it also seems a bit generic.
