Tommy Ridgley was a solid R&B vocalist who was quite successful with novelty tunes and silly songs, but he was also a good romantic balladeer. This 15-track collection mostly covers
Ridgley material from 1960 to 1964 for the Ric label, and ranges from laments like "Please Hurry Home" and "I Love You Yes I Do" to such comic material and dance-based numbers as "Double Eyed Whammy" and "The Girl from Kooka Monga."
Ridgley wasn't as booming or dynamic as some other Crescent City vocalists, but he made several nice period pieces and soul tunes, several of which are included on this set.
