The Theory of Silent Phase features a dozen Stacey Pullen productions from the mid-'90s, originally released by Transmat in the States and subsequently by R&S internationally. The Detroit producer/DJ showcases a style of techno quite typical of his hometown, firmly embedded in the Rhythim Is Rhythim style of synthesizer-driven, deep-space dance music.
Theory is a first-rate full-length of vintage Detroit techno that aficionados of the style should relish. That is includes some of Pullen's earliest production work makes the album all the more interesting, given his later accomplishments. ~ Jason Birchmeier
