Untamed Heart is standard romance movie music fare, for better or for worse -- composer
Cliff Eidelman creates a reflective, serene suite of themes with few moments of energy, and while it's not exactly boring, it's by no means engaging, either. There's no doubting the skill at work here, just as there's no mistaking the soullessness of the whole endeavor -- this is music as paint-by-numbers, as predictable as the sun's rise each morning and interchangeable with dozens of other breezy, soufflé-light evocations of modern love. The most noteworthy moment is the melodic main theme, which employs a small choir to striking effect -- it makes the tentativeness that afflicts the remainder of
Untamed Heart that much more frustrating. ~ Jason Ankeny
