Two years after contributing a song to their 2017 album Almost Home, singer/songwriter Marc Cohn offers up this collaborative album with legendary gospel group the Blind Boys of Alabama. Initially conceived as an EP, Work to Do was expanded into a full-length release with live material taken from their joint performance at a PBS taping of the The Kate at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Of the album's three studio tracks, both the title track and "Talk Back Mic" are Cohn originals, while the third, "Walk in Jerusalem," is a traditional gospel favorite. In the years leading up to this release Cohn and the Blind Boys did a series of tours together, developing a lively repartee on-stage which can be heard on their live renditions of Cohn classics like "Walking in Memphis" and "Silver Thunderbird." The Blind Boys also offer their own stirring rendition of "Amazing Grace."
