Aerosol is the solo alias of Rasmus Rasmussen, a Danish electronic musician and guitar player whose music blends IDM and ambient music with atmospheric post-rock. Rasmussen was a member of Limp (along with
Jakob Skøtt of
Syntaks and
Jonas Munk aka
Manual), a post-rock supergroup who released one album on Morr Music (
Orion, 2002), and later morphed into stoner rock behemoth
Causa Sui. As
Aerosol, Rasmussen debuted in 2001 with a self-titled 12" EP on the French electronic label Active Suspension, followed by a digital EP on the Danish netlabel Datamusik. His first full-length album,
All That Is Solid Melts into Air, was released as a limited CD-R on Unlabel. The album's downtempo, clicky beats and sparse yet warm atmospheres naturally attracted the attention of n5MD, home to similar downtempo IDM/post-rock artists such as
Bitcrush and
Lights Out Asia, and the label signed Rasmussen, releasing his second album as
Aerosol,
Airborne, in 2009. The album maintained the relaxed tempos and calming atmospheres of his debut, but had a fuller sound, with increased usage of both acoustic guitars and hazy electric guitar feedback.
All That Is Solid Melts into Air was re-released by n5MD in 2011. Four years later, the label released
Leave,
Aerosol's Krautrock/kosmische-inspired third LP. ~ Paul Simpson
