Arne Domnérus

Arne Domnérus

A Swedish alto saxophonist, clarinetist and bandleader. Domnerus led his first combo in 1942, and played with many dance and jazz orchestras throughout Sweden. He performed at the Paris Jazz Fair in 1949, and made his recording debut as a leader. He led a group from 1951 to 1968 that included many top Swedish players, among them Lars Gullin and Jan Johannson. He also played with The Swedish Radio Big Band from 1956 to 1965, and with Radiojazzgruppen from 1967 to 1978. He also led a Swedish group in New York, performed with Bengt Hallberg at the Monterey Jazz Festival and continued performing and recording in the '80s.
