Brooklyn-based rapper
B.B. Jay made a name for himself with his independently-released debut single, "Pentecostal Poppa," which received airplay on BET and brought him to the attention of Jive Records.
Jay signed a deal with the label and released his debut album,
Universal Concussion, in mid-2000. He also appeared on the remix of
Hezekiah Walker's single "Let's Dance," which also spotlighted
Jay's hard-hitting but ultimately uplifting style. ~ Heather Phares
