An American alt-pop outfit fronted by Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Jordan Beckett,
Bootstraps first gained recognition in 2011 after contributing music to the romantic comedy film Take Me Home. During that time the band's songs also appeared in a number of television shows, including Parenthood, Elementary, and Private Practice. In 2014 Beckett released the group's eponymous debut via Harvest Records, and put together a live band that included
David Quon (guitar and backing vocals), Chris Jaymes (keyboards),
Matthew Aveiro (drums), and Carl Jordan (bass). A sophomore effort, 2016's
Homage includes covers of
Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" and
Ben E. King's "Stand by Me," both of which found placement on high-profile television programs like Grey's Anatomy, Supergirl, and Lethal Weapon. ~ James Christopher Monger
