Much like their bandleader
Andy Shauf's solo material,
Foxwarren's gentle, folk- and psychedelia-shaded indie rock dwells in reflection and daydreams. After playing together on and off for ten years, the band's eponymous debut saw release in 2018.
Founded in the Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada in the late 2000s,
Foxwarren comprised college friends
Shauf,
Dallas Bryson (guitar), and brothers
Darryl Kissick (bass) and
Avery Kissick (drums). They started playing together after discovering a shared fondness for
David Bazan's
Pedro the Lion. Following some false starts and long hiatuses due to
Shauf's touring and recording schedule as a soloist, they were eventually able to put the finishing touches on their home-recorded full-length debut. The resulting
Foxwarren arrived via Anti- in 2018. ~ Marcy Donelson
