High Highs

High Highs

High Highs are electronic pop/rock duo based in Brooklyn, New York, but originally hailing from beautiful, coastal Sydney. Formed by Jack Milas and Oil Chang in 2010, High Highs started building a name for themselves with their debut album Open Season in 2013, followed by support tours with Vampire Weekend, Stars, Sky Ferreira and others. Their sophomore album Cascades is just around the bend, a stunning achievement that likely will break them further up to the masses. The title track and lead single is a great leap forward, described by Stereogum as Dzgorgeous arpeggiated shimmer that puts many of its 80s-movie-soundtrack-reminiscent competitors to shamedz, as the album itself, a pleasant nod to their hometown, is built on a richer and grander sheet of sound, equally soothing and soaring. Shamelessly inspired by heroes of their youth, like John "You're The Voice" Farnham and Icehouse, High Highs manages to refract a vintage sound into something timeless – and quite unique. Gear up to the album with their two new singles, and pray for an early spring.
