London-based dance duo
MANT have become staples of clubs and festivals with their tightly produced mixture of techno, house, and acid. Since 2014, they've released vibrant, celebratory tracks on labels like MTA, Solä, and
Toolroom, and have received support from DJs such as
Steve Lawler,
Joris Voorn, and
Hot Since 82.
Referred to by only their first names, Sam and Andy, the two producers first surfaced with a self-titled 2014 EP on
Chase & Status' MTA Records. The release established their sound as bright and upbeat, but with a slightly dramatic touch. The more offbeat Freedom EP followed in 2015. A collaboration with Solardo appeared in 2016, and
MANT began regularly releasing tracks on the Solä imprint, starting with 2017's "Ra" and continuing with EPs including Coming Back and Higher Self. Additionally, they appeared on labels such as Cr2 and Solotoko, and collaborated with producers like
Sonny Fodera and
Biscits. The retro-flavored vocal house cut "Lonely Days" (featuring
Hayla) was released by
Toolroom Records in 2019, with the more acid house-influenced EP Dance On It appearing on
Diplo's Higher Ground imprint at the end of the year. ~ Paul Simpson
