A specialist in Baroque music and early plucked instruments,
Pablo Zapico is familiar to classical listeners as a founding member of the period ensemble
Forma Antiqva with his brothers, theorbist
Daniel Zapico and harpsichordist and organist
Aarón Zapico. Born in Langreo in Asturias, Spain,
Zapico attended the the Escola Superior Música de Catalunya, where he completed his studies in plucked instruments with
Xavier Díaz-Latorre. He earned his master's degree in musicology in 2012 at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
Zapico has performed with
Forma Antiqva since its formation in 1999, and he has played continuo with many other ensembles, including
Musica Ficta,
La Ritirata,
Cappella Mediterranea, and the
Akademie für Alte Musik, Berlin, among other groups, and has appeared on many recordings for Radio France Musique, BBC, RTVE, and Catalunya Música. He has performed at many music festivals in Spain and across Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia, and taught master classes on his tours.
