Padre Fábio de Melo

Fábio de Melo, often referred to respectfully as Padre Fábio de Melo, is a Brazilian singer/songwriter, author, teacher, and priest of the Catholic faith who released a long line of albums around the turn of the century. Born Fábio José de Melo Silva on April 3, 1971, in Formiga, Minas Gerais, he began his recording career in the late '90s on the Paulinas COMEP label. His Paulinas COMEP catalog includes the full-length albums De Deus um Cantador (1997), Saudades do Céu (1999), Canta Coração (2000), As Estações da Vida (2001), Marcas do Eterno (2003), Humano Demais (2005), Sou um Zé da Silva e Outros Tantos (2006), and Enredos do Meu Povo Simples (2007). The highlights of this catalog was compiled for release as Grandes Momentos (2007). In the late 2000s he switched to the Som Livre label and released albums including Vida (2008) and Eu e o Tempo ao Vivo (2009). ~ Jason Birchmeier
