R. Carlos Nakai

The amazingly prolific Nakai has become, since 1983, a touchstone for New Agers who swear by his mellow, other-worldly blend of traditional melodies and electronic sounds as an aid to meditation, massage, and child-birth. Nakai, who is Navajo-Ute, has issued more than a dozen albums since beginning his career, most notably Cycles and Earth Spirit. The powerful effects of his music are the result of flute and, especially, synthesizer.
