Though they emerged in the second half of the 2010s, indie rock band
Shady Bug delves into a mercurial mix of '90s-inspired sounds including lo-fi, noise pop, and elements of math rock. The group's debut album, tbh idk, arrived in 2017.
Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri,
Shady Bug was formed by singer/guitarist Hannah Rainey, guitarist Tom Krenning, bassist Chris Chartrand, and drummer Aaron O’Neill. With additional bass by Todd Anderson, their first album, tbh idk, was self-released, with a limited cassette run by Pack Rat Records in April of 2017. They recorded the follow-up with Seth Engel at Pallet Sound in Chicago. With Anderson covering bass for the recording,
Lemon Lime marked the band's debut for Exploding in Sound in March 2019. ~ Marcy Donelson
