Channeling the explosive, exciting knob-noodling of '70s electronic innovators like
Can and dropping it into a 2000s electro context,
Soft Circle earned heaps of praise for its entrancing experiments. It didn't hurt that
Soft Circle is essentially a vehicle for noise rock veteran Hisham Bharoocha (of
Lightning Bolt and
Black Dice). He founded it in Brooklyn as a one-man operation in the mid-2000s, releasing the well-received debut Full Bloom on Eastern Developments in 2006. Town and Country's
Ben Vida joined the act as a second permanent member in 2009 and played on 2010’s
Shore Obsessed, alongside Bharoocha. ~ Jason Thurston
