A hard-hitting melodic post-hardcore unit from Orange County, California,
Speaking the King's formed in 2011 around the talents of guitarists Justin Bock and Mike Entin, bassist
Brad Reihl, and drummer Will Peacock. Drawing inspiration from artists like
Of Mice & Men and
We Came as Romans, the band's demos eventually found their way into the hands of
A Day to Remember producer
Tom Denney, who invited the fledgling group to his studio in Florida to cut some tracks. It was then that
Speaking the King's brought on vocalist
Bobby Burap, a seasoned frontman with a knack for both clean and scream registers, and began building the framework for what would eventually become the 2013 EP Here to Stay, which was released via
Nuclear Blast. The band's first studio long player, the
Steve Evetts-produced
Carousel, followed in 2015. ~ James Christopher Monger
