Steven Springer

Born in Trinidad, guitarist Steven Springer was influenced by steel drum and calypso music. His first band, Sanctuary, won several awards in the American Southwest. Springer then joined the Trinidad Calypso Band, playing at the 1988 World Fair in Brisbane, Australia. After a tour with that band, Springer joined the Trinidad Tripoli Steel Band. His first solo album, Caribbean Casino (1994) blended calypso, reggae and jazz. © John Bush /TiVo
