Los Angeles-based musical collective
the Mowgli's blend the Laurel Canyon folk and pop traditions of bands like
the Byrds and
the Beach Boys with the quirky modern indie pop of bands like
Fun. and
Grouplove. Formed in 2010 around singer/songwriter
Colin Dieden,
the Mowgli's are a large ensemble that originally included members David Applebaum,
Spencer Trent,
Matt Di Panni, Josh Hogan, Andy Warren,
Katie Earl, and
Michael Vincze (who left the group in 2014). In 2012, they released their full-length studio debut, Sound the Drum, along with an EP,
Love's Not Dead. They quickly returned a year later with their sophomore album,
Waiting for the Dawn. In 2015 they delivered their third full-length album,
Kids in Love, which featured production from
Captain Cuts as well as
Matt Radosevich.
The Mowgli's continued to tour, hit the festival circuit, and in late 2015, supported the humanitarian organization The International Rescue Committee by releasing the single "Room for All of Us." Following the departure of guitarist
Spencer Trent,
the Mowgli's worked with producer
Mike Green (
All Time Low,
Paramore) to record their fourth LP, 2016's
Where'd Your Weekend Go? A non-album single, "4AM," arrived in February 2017. ~ James Christopher Monger
