With their luminous harmonies and sunny folk-pop sound, Los Angeles trio Wild grew a massive online listenership in the latter half of the 2010s, thanks to a succession of popular singles that highlighted both their melodic hooks and acoustic roots. Billing themselves as "L.A. folk," the band teamed up with Nettwerk Music Group to release a pair of EPs in 2018 and 2020, while also landing a number of high-profile song placements in television and film. Coming together from various parts of the country, singer Lauren Luiz (from Oregon), guitarist/producer Tyler Thompson (from Minneapolis), and guitarist Zach DeGaetano (from Boston) met and began playing together in 2015. Heavily influenced by the soaring indie folk sound of bands like Of Monsters and Men, they fused their pop sensibilities with an earnest acoustic core on their self-released debut single, "Vagabond." That song and its various follow-up singles put up big numbers on the streaming platforms, and Wild were soon offered a deal with Nettwerk, which issued their 2018 EP Lace & Layers. Along the way, they had songs placed in the film Life Itself and shows like Workin' Moms and A Million Little Things. Additional singles followed over the next two years, leading up to the release of their second EP, 2020's Yours and Mine. © Timothy Monger /TiVo
