Het eerste verzamelalbum van na de zelf ingelaste pauze, From Fear to Eternity: The Best of 1990-2010 laat zien hoe naadloos de overgang was. In tegenstelling tot andere acts die hun handen in het cement van de late jaren 70 en jaren 80 mochten achterlaten, heeft Iron Maiden nooit aan stoom verloren, de tijdelijke grote opschudding waarin lead zanger Bruce Dickinson werd omgeruild voor Wolfsbane zanger Blaze Bayley voor twee albums daarbij meegerekend. Samengesteld van acht studioalbums (waaronder een paar Bayley nummers), bruisen de nummers op From Fear to Eternity met de energie en overtuiging van een groep die 20 jaar jonger was.
