Assurément l’un des tous meilleurs vibraphonistes en Europe, Pascal Schumacher s’est construit un monde et un univers avec une écriture et une esthétique révélant une émotion constante. Et si le Japon reste un modèle de contrastes entre tradition et modernité, il est devenu une vraie source d’inspiration pour ce musicien. Incorporant les influences de la culture japonaise à son travail, il s’est approprié l’Orientalisme en perpétuant un style minimaliste inspiré du concept japonais de wabi-sabi qui combine harmonie et désordre. Sur la base du son subtil et raffiné son de son ancien quartet, il a introduit une large palette d’ajouts, créant ainsi une œuvre plus variée que tout ce qu’il avait enregistré jusqu’alors. A l’exception de compositions de Milton Nascimento et de Ryuichi Sakamoto, tous les thèmes de cet album ont été composés à Tokyo par Schumacher, exprimant par la musique sa vision unique de la ville.
