Chris Tomlin takes a greater role on
Here for You, 2011's annual installment from Louie Giglio and company. We've come to know what to expect from a
Passion album; each year's effort attempts to capture the grand-scale ambitions of the popular Christian worship movement.
Here for You continues the series' momentum by capturing poignant live moments in front of tens of thousands of fans. The usual suspects, including
Kristian Stanfill,
Christy Nockels, and
David Crowder, all appear, with
Tomlin taking lead vocals on six tracks (eight on the digital deluxe edition). And while his influence is one of the greatest reasons for
Passion's success, there remains a question of why the album doesn't better represent the other artists with whom he shared the stage. It may not step far away from the formulaic sound of prior
Passion albums, but
Here for You is solid nonetheless, and another memorable moment for contemporary Christian fans. ~ Jared Johnson
