Telling stories of the streets through vivid rhymes and tricky metaphors,
Cyhi the Prynce is a rapper signed to
Kanye West's label G.O.O.D. Music. Born Cydel Young in Stone Mountain, Georgia,
Cyhi was inspired to take his name when he learned he was born the same day, same year, and had the same middle name as Prince Harry. After releasing a handful of mixtapes, he was discovered by
Kanye West in 2010. That same year he signed with
West's G.O.O.D. Music imprint, appeared on
West's album
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and released the mixtape Royal Flush. Royal Flush II arrived in 2011, while 2012 saw him land on the G.O.O.D. Music compilation Cruel Summer. In 2013, he earned numerous co-writing credits on
West's album
Yeezus then, in 2014, G.O.O.D. Music released Black Hystori Project, his conceptual mixtape which honored African-American history with tracks like "Huey," "Coretta," and "Basquiat." A second volume, subtitled N.A.A.C.P., followed in 2015. The Stoned Mountain Playlist, a brief collaboration with publicist/producer
Jonathan Hay, appeared in 2016.
Cyhi's long-delayed debut studio album,
No Dope on Sundays, finally arrived in November of 2017, featuring appearances by
West,
Pusha T,
2 Chainz,
